There were rumors of an owl's nest in Bend's Drake Park, and I went down there to check it out. It was exciting to capture images of a Great Horned Owlet as it was checking out the world from its nest high in a tree above the park. Owls are so cool.
Bend had a huge dump of snow in mid-November 2014. During the snow, a group of quail visited the bird feeding area in our backyard. This quail landed on our deck railing and stood lookout while the rest of the family hunted for seeds in the snow.
