Great Horned Owlet, Drake Park, Bend, OR

There were rumors of an owl's nest in Bend's Drake Park, and I went down there to check it out. It was exciting to capture images of a Great Horned Owlet as it was checking out the world from its nest high in a tree above the park. Owls are so cool.

On The Roof With A View

I couldn’t resist capturing this heron that I saw on the roof of our boathouse at Anacortes Marina. I loved the snow-covered view of Mount Baker in the background. Quail In Snow, Bend, OR

Bend had a huge dump of snow in mid-November 2014. During the snow, a group of quail visited the bird feeding area in our backyard. This quail landed on our deck railing and stood lookout while the rest of the family hunted for seeds in the snow.

Winter Friend

I spotted this little bird on one of my winter walks along the Deschutes River Trail in Bend, Oregon. From looking through my bird books, I think this is an adult male non-breeding house sparrow. Sure is cute!
