McKay Crossing Falls, Paulina Creek, Central Oregon

McKay Crossing Falls, just outside the Newberry National Volcanic Monument in the Deschutes National Forest, is one of several small waterfalls along Paulina Creek in Central Oregon. Water flow over the falls seems low for early May 2015, probably due to Central Oregon's mild winter and less than normal snow melt.

Paulina Creek Falls are two side-by-side 80-foot waterfalls. This view is from about half way down a trail that leads to a pool at the bottom, and shows both falls as they drop into a large pile of basalt rocks and then the creek disappears under the rocks. The stream flow was very low at the time this photo was taken in May, 2015.

In addition to the named waterfalls along Paulina Creek in Central Oregon, there are many small falls all along the creek. This little pool and the resulting falls is one that I found especially pretty. It is located near the McKay Crossing Campground.
